Ayuda en Acción identifies the high rate of illiteracy in a poor community, confirmes the lack of schools and the existence of children truancy. It then decides to build a school and raise parental awareness on the importance of their children taking hours from work to attend school. Ayuda en Acción builds a pretty school and responds to the need for structural change by coordinating with the Ministry of Education to adapt didactic material, to participate in training projects for teachers and to implement a project that promotes the participation of parents in an intercultural education system in which local knowedge is shared and renewed. Ayuda en Acción also promotes an organizational process that allows members of the community to bear on public policy.
