The SOS Gangs Project works with youth in prison who had previously been caught up in gang life. Without the distraction of the dangerous lifestyle within custody, prisoners can more easily work through social guidance and reach community goals. The project assists individuals through the emotional and practical impacts of being imprisoned. SOS aids ex-offenders with housing needs, accessing education and employment. The project also guides ex-offenders through emotional needs such as re-establishing ties with family, healthy friends and loved ones which can be lost in gang life. While engaged during custody, ex-offenders can work from the sturdy foundation and work towards resettlement and contributions to society. SOS support continues throughout resettlement and ensures positive change.
